Macs are for short people

So I just got back from the Apple store. After approximately 12 hours of MacBook Pro ownership, I had to return it.

The problem is that the lid only opens barely past 90 degrees. Unfortunately, this means that when the computer is open, the screen is pointing at my chest -- not my eyes.

If you're using a laptop right now, close the lid to 90 degrees and you can see how annoying it is. You're looking at it indirectly, and the LCD becomes faded and washed-out from the viewing angle. So you basically have to crouch down to use it.

I'm 6'4" and figured maybe it's just because I'm too tall. But I did a search online, and apparently there are many people with the same problem. At almost any height, it's practically impossible to use the Mac laptop on your actual lap.

Interestingly, I didn't notice the problem in the Apple store when I bought it, because the lids on their demo computers go way back. They told me that the lids on their demos go back further because they are old and loose and are played with so much. Then they told me they were going to charge me a 10% "restocking fee" to take back my computer.

$270.

"Wtf? The computer you sold me is different than the one on your display. And unfortunately the difference makes it unusable for me."

Eventually the complied, but were really huffy and mean about it.

Anyway, now I'm back to an IBM laptop. Maybe I'll wait to see if Apple fixes this problem in the future. Or maybe I'll get a regular MacBook, instead of the "Pro" -- they seem to go back further, but still not that far.

But to be honest, for the 12 hours I had the computer, I kept thinking "why am I doing this again? I already know how to do everything on my PC."

Bleh.
